Koer jalutab lõhenenud maapinnal Las Canoase paisu lähistel, mis jääb Nicaragua pealinnast Managuast 59 kilomeetrit põhja. Kohaliku meedia andmetel on suur ala paisu juures kuiv juba veebruarist saadik, kuna riisikasvatajad kasutasid vee põldude kastmiseks ära, mõjutades sadade piirkonnas elavate talupoegade argielu.
